Button sprung from Studio Rodrigo’s mission to positively impact their local community. My work creating a thrift store on my campus prompted them to give me a space to explore my interest in entrepreneurial sustainability. My goal was to conduct and present research surrounding the Circular Economy, in particular, how it relates to the world of fast fashion and clothing habits.
Circularity means being responsible for the waste we produce, creating
a community to support repair, resale, and recycling and designing products that are sustainably sourced.
EXPLORING THE PROBLEM SPACE AND ESTABLISHING USER JOURNEY
Competitive Analysis
Indyx had an overcomplicated UI system, the reviews reflected this. Users seemed to appreciate the cost-per-wear element. The time it took to build out your wardrobe digitally, take photos and catalogue was a time hassle and provided a huge barrier of entry for users. You can also only upload one photo at a time. Additionally there was no social element. Whering had an outfit planning and friend element that I appreciated. However, you start with a wardrobe that wasn’t your own! Immediately disconnecting the user from their wardrobe. Reviewers wished it had better organizational categories and fixed the glitches resulting in “background removal”. A digital recreation isn’t what is needed to the solve the wardrobe tracking problem.
What is really needed is something that will supplement your daily wear instead.
